Jane Luscombe began volunteering at Together We Cope 4 years ago.  At the time she was working part-time with her husband of 29 years, Tom, who has also been a State Farm Insurance agent for 29 years.  Her two children were both attending Illinois State University, and she was now an empty-nester.  Jane came to the realization that her children were on their own, and she now had time to become a volunteer.  While researching several organizations she came across a newspaper article on Together We Cope.  “I knew this was an organization where I could help,” Jane said.  So after a tour of the facilities she began working immediately hanging clothes.

“It was a fun atmosphere.  Everyone was so welcoming and friendly and I felt a part of the group from the beginning.”  During her tenure Jane has done a little bit of everything, but her main job now is receiving donations at the back door . Once she receives them she starts the process of sorting.

“At the end of a shift I look around and see everything that all of us working together have accomplished, and it is impossible not to feel good.

Jane says that she especially enjoys the people at Together We Cope.  “We are a group of varied ages and backgrounds that genuinely cares about each other.”   She goes on to say, “We are all at Together We Cope because we see the good things that are accomplished by all of us working together.”

A resident of Frankfort for 25 years, Jane is a member of Parkview Christian Church.  Her children are all grown up.  Thomas is 27 years old, and Kate, who is 24, is now married to Eric.  Jane spends the time away from Together We Cope “struggling at learning to play the piano.”  She is an avid reader and enjoys running and walking.  She loves to cook and is always in search of new recipes.  With all of this on her plate, Jane says, “my favorite day is one spent with my husband and our 3 children”.
