Birthday bash in a box!

Youngsters in the Sunday School program at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Palos Heights made a very special donation to Together We Cope's food pantry recently.

The children put together 16 Birthday Boxes to enable Together We Cope client families to put on a birthday party for children who otherwise might not have a party. The boxes, brightly decorated in birthday party wrapping paper, contain everything you need for a little one's birthday fun. There is a cake pan, cake mix, frosting and birthday candles. Also included are birthday party tablecloth, plates, cups, napkins, forks and party favors. The boxes are marked for girls or boys, with an age range for each.

The boxes are given to families picking up groceries at the food pantry if they have a child celebrating a birthday that week. Pictured are pantry volunteers who accepted the Birthday Box donation from Good Shepherd. From left are Peggy Brown, Marilyn Kelly, Elaine Juskie and Natalie Sims.
