Thanks a bunch!

Big bunches of pansies were presented to hundreds of volunteers at Together We Cope in Tinley Park to thank them for the thousands of service hours they contribute to the nonprofit each year.  The plants and other small gifts were given to volunteers during U.S. National Volunteer Week in April. The flowers were donated to TWC by Saunoris Garden Center in Frankfort. Kathryn Straniero, executive director of TWC, said the volunteers are critical to the agency’s operation. “We truly could not accomplish what we do here to help families in crisis if we didn’t have the wisdom and experience our volunteers bring to the job,” she said. Straniero, left, looks over the pansy plants with Cate Dietz (center), coordinator of volunteer services at TWC, and Tina Kessens of the agency’s community relations staff. Together We Cope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides food, clothing and financial assistance to families in temporary crisis from 22 south suburban communities.
