Plush Horse to top off Together We Cope’s Pasta Extravaganza on October 7
What could be better than choosing your dinner from a buffet of great pizza and pasta dishes? How about following it with a trip to an ice cream sundae bar, with treats provided by the Plush Horse Ice Cream Shoppe?
The dessert feature is the newest twist to Together We Cope’s popular “Pasta Extravaganza and A Nite at the Races.” Set for Wednesday, October 7, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Orland Chateau, 14500 S. LaGrange Road in Orland Park, the tickets are $25 for adults and $5 for children age 3 to 12.
The dinner features a wide variety of delicious food donated by dozens of south suburban restaurants that support TWC’s work in the region. It also gives diners lots of choices for their meal as they peruse the buffet.
Adding to the fun are the horse races featured in the event. Videotaped horse races are shown during the evening, giving diners the chance to place wagers with “funny money” they purchase at the door. Winnings are paid in tickets that diners can drop into baskets for drawings on many prizes to be given away that night.
The annual family-friendly event drew record attendance last year, proving to be one of Together We Cope’s most popular fundraisers. “Many of our supporters come to Pasta Extravaganza because they can bring the whole family,” said Karen Moran, TWC’s fundraising manager. “There’s something for everyone, and everybody has a good time.”

Bonefish Grill to host Sept. 19 fundraiser for Together We Cope
Bonefish Grill in Orland Park will host a fundraiser for Together We Cope on September 19 at 15537 South LaGrange Road.
When diners present a special event-day flyer from 11 am to 4 pm, Bonefish Grill will donate 15 percent of the total check to the Tinley Park-based prevention agency, which bridges the gap for local families in temporary financial crisis, enabling them to stay in their homes.
The event will be Bonefish Grill’s second fundraiser for TWC. The restaurant selected the agency as the beneficiary for its grand opening in 2013, selling tickets for a tasting event that quickly sold out.
“Bonefish Grill is one of the area’s most popular restaurants, and we’re honored and grateful to be chosen again for their support,” said Kathryn Straniero, executive director at TWC. “Everyone’s really excited about the Sept. 19 event.”
Nick Kapellas, managing partner at the Orland Park restaurant, said, “Bonefish Grill is committed to partnering with local charities to help create a better community that gives back.”
Getting a flyer in advance is the key to supporting TWC. Those who plan to attend the benefit can pick up flyers at Together We Cope, 17010 South Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park, from 9 am to 3 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 2 to 7 pm on Thursday.
Participants are encouraged to reserve a spot for the fundraising event by calling Bonefish Grill today at 708.873.5170.
For information on the benefit, call Katlin Bewley at 708.263.0302, x 6107 or email her at email@example.com.
