We are enjoying the services of a professional writer and editor since Marge Seltzner joined our ranks last year, managing a public relations campaign aimed at raising Together We Cope’s profile in the region.
Marge is a Tinley Park resident who has been a professional journalist for nearly 40 years. Most recently deputy managing editor at the SouthtownStar, Marge began helping us out last fall after her job was eliminated in reorganization at the newspaper. While she explores new employment opportunities, she’s using her experience to bring our cause to the attention of local media and contribute to our quarterly newsletter. “I’m working Together We Cope like a reporter works a beat,” Marge explains. “There are dozens of great stories in this place, and I’m writing these stories and delivering them to the local media as part of a larger campaign to focus attention on Together We Cope’s mission to aid south suburban families in crisis.” Marge has brought media attention to great finds and trendy fashion in our Sensible Shoppe, dedicated and creative volunteers in our food pantry, generous donors to the agency, and success stories among clients seeking help from Cope. She’s publicized all of our fundraisers, bringing some new dollars to our efforts. “I like that Cope aims to bring people back to self-sufficiency,” Marge says, “something many of us need as we navigate our way in this tough economy. Beyond that, I’ve made some wonderful new friends and I’m having a great time here at Cope.” |
