Mary Ann began volunteering at Together We Cope in 1992 in a variety of roles, and the agency hired her in 2002 as a grant writer. She had retired from Intec Systems Inc. after 18 years as chief operating officer, and brought that management ability to her work at our agency. She soon was named director of development.
With her background, Mary Ann would have been a major asset to any agency as a volunteer. “It was the idea of serving basic human needs that attracted me to Together We Cope,” she recalls. Mary Ann is impressed with the volunteers who contribute about 20,000 hours of labor to the agency every year. “These volunteers, who give unconditionally, are the motivation that keeps me going,” she said. “The best thing about my job is working with people who really care and are trying their hardest to make a difference in the lives of families experiencing hard times. It’s fulfilling to be a part of a successful agency, Mary Ann said. |
