Suellen Wolk“I sometimes think the most important thing that we provide here is hope,” Suellen says of her experience at Together We Cope.

She joined the Together We Cope staff in 2007 after a career in sales and project management, bringing her experience in both corporate and community service worlds to Together We Cope.  At one point, Suellen led a 100% volunteer effort to provide Christmas gifts to children whose letters to Santa ended up at the Chicago Post Office.  “I have always enjoyed working with charitable organizations and wanted to combine my previous career experience with a role in a socially beneficial organization,” she said.

After a brief stint as a field representative with the Salvation Army, Suellen came into contact with Together We Cope.  “Right away I knew I liked TWC’s programs and each time I visited I was struck by the enthusiasm of their employees and volunteers,” she said.  When an opportunity rose in 2007 to join Together We Cope’s staff, Suellen went to work at the agency.  Since then, several members of her family have become involved with Together We Cope in volunteer roles.

“I encounter many people each week who leave a strong impression, most often my co-workers.  Sometimes I overhear a volunteer speaking to someone who has come to our food pantry as though they are an invited guest in her home, expressing happiness at their return,” Suellen said.

“I love that my job continues to evolve and that I can combine the humanitarian and business sides of my personality in a nurturing, creative environment.”
